Product Number: 004-006-44120
In 1968, Igino Moretti founded Moretti in Recanati, Italy, a small town with a rich pipe-making history that stretches back to 1850. Igino actually worked for one of the town's largest pipe factories, before financial pressures from World War II forced them to close in 1950. After many years, Igino ceded control of production to his son-in-law Marco Biagini who diversified the design principles of the workshop to include the classic profiles of Anglo-French manufacturers and Danish carvers. Moretti pipes are still made by Marco, joined by his son Luca, and are crafted entirely by hand in the brandā€™s small Recanati workshop.
The brand primarily carves pipes with an expressive, neoclassical style, often showcasing stout bowls, rakish angles, and dramatic flares across a wide array of shapes that each display Morettiā€™s unique approach to design. Moretti pipes exclusively utilize high-quality Italian briar aged for at least ten years, and they also regularly produce pipes made with alternative materials, such as olivewood or morta. All of the workshopā€™s finishes use entirely natural coloring, and their pipes are fitted with stems made from acrylic or vulcanite in a variety of colors.
