A serious bundle of energy, this Tsuge Ikebana Blowfish is a handy one, and one which seems to tread the line between sculptural and organic. There's nary a grain line out of place, with the bulbous right flank entirely composed of birdseye divided precisely at the center by a lane of cross-grain. The shape makes use of some Japanese asymmetry to imply a sense of side-to-side motion, and the long, downturned saddle-stem and its upward-flicking base play with the visual weight quite well in profile, while also completing a delicate S-curve. There's only some minor rim darkening, otherwise condition is excellent. Highly recommended indeed.
