Japanese Estates: Tsuge Ikebana Smooth Tomato (E) (132) (1992)

Product Number: 004-007-0868

Created by Kazuhiro Fukuda, former student of Sixten Ivarsson and and early mentor to Kei'Ichi Gotoh in 1992, this E Grade Ikebana Tomato features the most overt Zen Moderne elements that I can recall seeing within the legendary Ikebana line. Twenty (plus) years ahead of its time, the sweep of the teardrop shank and subsequent deep travel under the bowl seems to support the latter, creating almost six inches of superbly grained of kinetic energy. Pleasantly stunned doesn't come close to covering it. Condition is still good, with the only conditions of note being minor rim darkening and some slight waving to the chamber.
