This Blowfish from Ichi Kitahara boasts an asymmetric build, with wide panels and crisp ridgelines wrapping the entirety of the stummel and lending the totality of the composition a playful lopsidedness. The mixture of the supple curves and structural lines make this piece a delight in hand, as it possesses a myriad of unique textures for the fingers to explore. The most impressive part of the composition, however, is the grain. Gorgeous seas of birdseye adorn the flanks of the bowl, while tight bands of cross grain cover the fore of the bowl and the top of the stummel. All this beautiful grain is highlighted by an auburn smooth finish that's warm and affable.
