Turkish Estates: Antique Meerschaum African (late 19th - early 20th c.)
Product Number: 004-008-1826
This meerschaum depicts a long-faced African fellow, a Moor I'm guessing, in great detail right down to the folds and the texture of his headdress. The quality of the work alone, both in the carving and in its fine presentation at the end of smooth, flowing shank and stem, would make this piece a rarity, but on top of that, it also happens to be a proper antique as well, with out best guess for the date of its creation being some time during the late 19th or early 20th century.
