Misc. Estates: Sergei Cherepanov Smooth Freehand Sitter with Boxwood & Vulcanite Foot
Product Number: 004-008-1885
It's been a while since we've seen something from Sergei Cherepanov, but I can't say I'm finding any surprises here. Design-wise this is, pretty much, what you should expect from most Cherepanovs: a very modern shape, shaped very well. He does do more classical, even downright antiquarian designs here and there, but overall there is quite a clear emphasis on experimentation and innovation. And I have to say, I certainly don't recall ever seeing a Cherrywood shape like this before. As novel as it is though, Sergei's clearly done the heavy lifting of refining the balance and interplay of form and lines; it's a weird shape, but it's a weird shape that works.
