Misc. Estates: Doctor's Smooth Tulip with Polymerized Organics (Unsmoked)
Product Number: 004-008-3051
While his lineup is certainly eclectic, with an underlying theme of swift lines and dynamic profiles, this is the first Tulip shape we've ever seen from Russian artisan Roman Kovalev.
Much like his other forms, the design is centered around that sweeping line down from the shank, curving up across the heel and into the plump, rounded curves of the fore. At the rim, however, it quickly guides the eye the other direction through the deft use of cant and flare, creating a protruding lip of sorts along the aft. As you might imagine, the end result is an exceedingly dynamic shape, yet one populated by gentle, delicate curves rather than Kovalev's often-used sharp, aggressive lines. It's finished in a light-contrast stain, highlighting the 360 degrees of flame covering the bowl, as well as birdseye covering the underside.
