This shape is both smooth and cheeky, but, I would say, definitely firm rather than plump in style. The stance of the bowl is simply alert and forward — very forward — while the rearmost portion of the cheeks, and front-most part of the bowl both display solid, more aggressive curves. When it comes to accent-work, you'll find more examples of Daniel's penchant for doing things very differently: the shank-end is dominated by a complex combination of various, precisely-fitted decorative woods, while more discretely, but even more unusual, the top of the rear-left quarter of the bowl sports a quartet of glittering metallic-flake insets.
