Misc. Estates: Michail Kyriazanos Smooth Lumberman with Boxwood

Product Number: 004-008-5274

While the Lumberman shape is simply defined by an oval shank and abbreviated saddle stem, most renditions typically elongating the shank considerably, making for a longer piece overall. That's not the case with this Michail Kyriazanos iteration. Here, the Greek carver presents quite a compact take on the shape, the pinched shank extending only slightly longer than the bowl is tall. It's a fetching, pocket-sized smoker, still imbued with all the shaping cues of the classic pipe chart standard and lent a slight Danish style as the bowl tapers slightly to a subtly inflated rim. The rich contrast stain brings out some fine licks of flame grain, and it's accented by a ferrule of boxwood fitted to the stem base.
