Misc. Estates: Martelo Sandblasted Long Shank Pot with Mammoth Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-008-5738
Gustavo Cunha is an incredibly talented carver, and I'm continually amazed at how he executes pencil-shank briars and long-shanked pieces like this Pot. The bowl is as stout and muscular as expected when it comes to the classic shape, but it's paired to a long, trim stretch of shank that really softens its look in profile. It creates a unique rendition with an abundance of charming character, and has plenty of the inherent liveliness associated with Martelo's style. The sandblast is quite craggy and displays some fascinating grain patterns around the bowl and shank. The stummel's jet-black stain is brilliantly contrasted by the creamy white mammoth accent along the shank and the vibrant, swirling green and purple colors of the mouthpiece.
