Misc. Estates: Peter Kotlyar Carved Eskimo (3017) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-008-5747

Peter Kotlyar is a Russian carver known for his wild shaping and unique finishes. Here, the artisan presents an Eskimo design that he's fashioned quite often. It features the form's Rhodesian bowl poised on the end of a shank that widen dramatically to match the bowl's width. What makes this Kotlyar rendition so striking, though, is the finish — resembling a prehistoric trilobite or tadpole shrimp, it features a ribbed carving along the shank and lower bowl, while the rim is left smooth to showcase dense whorls of birdseye. Unsmoked.
