Misc. Estates: Unknown Smooth Freehand Sitter (A-0907-204) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-008-5875
I'll admit that I was initially skeptical about this pipe being a sitter, but after placing it on my desk, I was reassured there was no need to be doubtful. Though we can't say with certainty who crafted this piece, they definitely know a thing or two about balance. The towering, deep-chambered bowl exhibits a strong degree of forward cant and features a flattened base which works in tandem with the protruding foot along the shank's underside to enable this pipe to sit stably on flat surfaces. The grain is quite impressive too, as cross grain is perfectly oriented along the bowl's flanks with birdseye visible along the fore and aft. It's a compelling piece from multiple aspects and the wallet friendly price certainly doesn't hurt things.
