Misc. Estates: Grechukhin Sandblasted Bent Apple with Red Palm
Product Number: 004-008-5999
Vladimir Grechukhin does an extraordinary job when it comes to crafting compact shapes that manage to combine powerful lines and proportions with a graceful sense of gesture and stance. This muscular, tight-knit bent Apple from the Russian master displays those qualities perfectly, with the teardrop shank showcasing the piece's crisp line work and giving the plump bowl some well-defined cheeking at the transition. A firm ridgeline emerges from the left side of the shank face, continuously curving and wrapping around the bowl's fore before terminating at a crisp, decisive point at the rim. The warm, crimson-tinged contrast stain dresses the rugged sandblast beautifully, highlighting a mesmerizing array of rippling ring grain around the chubby bowl.- Jeffery Sitts
