Misc. Estates: Konstantin Shekita Smooth Bent Dublin
Product Number: 004-008-5919
Konstantin Shekita is no stranger to complex line work, daring stylistic choices, or unique pieces. That being said, this Horn-like bent Dublin is much more conservative and classic compared to the Ukrainian carver's overall portfolio. It does, however, showcase quite a bold Ivarsson-esque teardrop line, riding the entire length of the stummel. Shekita's use of the element works well here, completely changing the disposition of the pipe's form depending on the point of view. While the ridge's crispness contrasts the stummel's soft line work, it also informs the underside's consistent arc. As an added accentuating detail, a teardrop-shaped stem base mirrors the shape of the shank.-Truett Smith
