Misc. Estates: Michal Novak Smooth Freehand (Unsmoked)
Product Number: 004-008-6205
Based out of the Czech Republic, Michal Novak has been carving pipes since 2009 and was a journalist and photographer prior to becoming a pipe maker. Novak is known for his wild, flourishing Freehand designs and the fluting ridges he often features on his pipes. This particular piece is quite a bold, dramatic Freehand and is unlike previous Novak pipes we've seen, notably forgoing his signature use of firm ridgelines and fluting channels. That said, it's still a hearty, muscular design that's been shaped to highlight the the tight streaks of vertical grain that cascade down form the plateau-crowned rim. It's presented here in unsmoked condition.- Jeffery Sitts
