Misc. Estates: Chris Asteriou Smooth Tomato with Horn (106/18) (2018)

Product Number: 004-008-7001

This Tomato rendition does well to represent Chris Asteriou's shaping style, which frequently combines elements from various schools. With a Danish sense of softness to its bowl, giving it a supple waistline and rounded rim, it's a piece whose central point seems to be organicism, yet it also bears the plump muscularity often seen from German and American carvers alike. The details are not overlooked, however: The rim is dimpled with plateau, and the lower bowl displays an array of stunning flame brought out by a vibrant contrast stain. It's all accented by an extra-dark horn mount, which comes off as particularly classy on this piece, matching with the darker hues of the stain and, of course, with the vulcanite mouthpiece.
