Misc. Estates: Lomma Smooth Acorn
Product Number: 004-008-7243
A sailing enthusiast and a skilled woodworker, Lars Jonsson began making pipes after becoming friends with Tom Eltang and visiting the Danish artisan's workshop. Lars first learned how to rusticate pipes and Tom was impressed with his work, eventually teaching him other pipe-making skills. Jonsson also notably studied under Hans "Former" Nielsen, gaining the necessary skills to pursue the craft full time and crafting extraordinary smoking instruments. This lithely bent Acorn from the Swedish carver slightly departs from his typically compact, chubby shaping style. The bowl is still somewhat bulbous, tapering from the rim down towards the crisp, protruding spur along the base while the shank and stem curve elegantly upwards. The grain orientation suits the bowl's shaping perfectly, with tight streaks of vertical grain cascading down the bowl's flanks, tastefully dressed in a warm contrast stain.- Jeffery Sitts
