Misc. Estates: Julius Vesz Hand Made Smooth Cherrywood (6) (55) Tobacco Pipe

Boasting over 60 years of carving experience, Canadian craftsman Julius Vesz presents us with this lithe Cherrywood rendition. The stem here is fairly lengthy, and is one of the first things I notice about this piece, the extended bit taking on a subtle arc from the base for an elegant posture. Shank-wise, we see a short extension of briar flow out from a wide transition, taking on an easy taper as it does which continues through the stem base, with this transition leaving plenty of room to drape a thumb. A flat heel allows for stable sitting and its slightly canted build lends the bowl a dynamic stance, the walls it builds rising to a flattened rim with a rather wide chamber, said walls acting as a lovely canvas for the mahogany stain of the stummel.
