Tall and broad, this Bulldog from Israeli company Alpha features a low-lying stretch of shank and stem with a gentle lift at the shank that poises the straight saddle stem for comfortable smoking. This combination is diamond shaped and paneled, though the underside isn't separated with a crisp ridge, but rounded, giving the shank face the outline of a baseball diamond. At more than six and a half inches long, this is a rather lengthy piece, but the reach of the shank and stem are balanced by the substance present in the bowl, its rounded walls flaring to a mid-set waist marked by a pair of beadlines before it takes on a sloping taper to the rim. Dressed in a deep chestnut stain, this pipe showcases some handsome grain throughout its large stummel.
