Misc. Estates: Chris Asteriou Smooth Rhodesian (83/14) (2014) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-008-9058
An immensely talented artisan pipe maker, Chris Asteriou fashions a wide range of different shapes, from bold, whimsical Freehands to more conservative, Anglo-French classics, with this Rhodesian being an example of the latter. This piece poses a squat, thick-walled bowl at the fore of a stout shank and an elegantly tapered stem. The results are a dense yet reserved taken on the classic shape, replete with the form's wrapping beadlines and tapered rim. While this piece offers plenty of substance for the fingers to embrace, it remains rather lightweight in hand, in part thanks to the shape's compact length, which measures just a hair over five inches from end to end. Dressed in an auburn smooth finish, the stummel displays a stunning mixture of birdseye and flame grain around the bowl.
