Rusen Rusenov is a Bulgarian carver who was inspired to fashion his own artisan pipes after being dissatisfied with the quality of more budget-friendly smokers. His pipes focus on expert engineering and smoking properties, and are offered at a readily accessible price point. Here, he presents a long-shanked Horn, the lithe curve of the shank and stem adding momentum that's realized in the bowl's forward urge. The tapering stretch of oval shank pushes out to meet a sleek saddle stem whose base has been offset and flared, adding a bit of intrigue at the aft before the slim bit takes hold. Dressed in a rich, ruby-toned stain, this pipe showcases a wealth of handsome grain, with flame wrapping through the flanks while birdseye dominates the underside.
