Misc. Estates: Unknown Smooth Eskimo (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe

Measuring less than five inches in total length, this Eskimo from an unknown maker is perfect for on-the-go smoking, but even given its reduced size, it manages to retain the form's characteristic features, even in profile. The Eskimo shape is defined by its broad, Rhodesian-like bowl and wide, oval-shaped shank, both of which are present in this rendition. A pronounced ridgeline wraps around the bowl here and demarcates the tapered rim from the rest of the stummel, while two additional ridgelines wrap the sides of the bowl and curve downward to frame the shank. These firm, structural lines lend a touch of contrast to the otherwise supple shape, and provide a palpable muscularity to the overall form. An auburn smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights an impressive showing of grain around the bowl, while a demure stem of blue acrylic tops everything off and adds a some vibrant color to the composition.
