This hearty Apple by Russian artisan Alexandr Penkov is a distinctive piece that places a plump, tapered bowl at the fore of a remarkably broad bamboo shank, accented on either side with mottled mammoth ivory, making the mottled shank the focus of the composition in a unique move. Out back, a vulcanite saddle stem offers a surprisingly easy clench. Dressed in a rich walnut stain, the stummel boasts fine flame grain around the bowl, with dense birdseye at the rim and heel.
