Greek pipe maker Michail Kyriazanos began carving pipes in 2010 and immediately found success. Kyriazanos has an affinity for crafting traditional English shapes, although he occasionally incorporates creative twists. This Bulldog by Michail Kyriazanos is an imaginative rendition of the shape. The piece is centered around the asymmetrical bowl, with the waist and beadline positioned on a diagonal axis, as opposed to their traditionally horizontal orientation. However, the bowl does not tilt alongside these elements, accentuating the fore and diminishing the aft for an intriguing take on a stout classic. Moreover, the lengthy shank displays a languid bend and crisp facets that frame stunning grain, especially on the underside, where whorls of birdseye freckle the long, curved surface. The abbreviated saddle stem offers a familiar clench and keeps the focus on the elegant stummel.
