Misc. Estates: Craft Sandblasted Liverpool (5) (14) Tobacco Pipe

Product Number: 004-008-10147

Hungarian native Julius Vesz holds fond childhood memories of watching his grandfather make pipes in his workshop. After immigrating to Canada to pursue a career as a mechanical draftsman, Vesz decided to pick up pip -making as a hobby, and, eventually, pipe making became his main line of work. Vesz presents a unique style, defined by revising traditional forms with exciting shaping and finishes. In Vesz' first years as a pipe maker, he stamped his pipes under the name Craft Briar Pipe Co., with this era lasting from 1959-1966, making this Liverpool one of his earliest pieces. Possessed of a robust, tapered bowl and an elongated, rounded shank, the muscular stummel feels hearty in-hand, and its underside has been flattened, making this Liverpool a stable Sitter. The composition is topped off by an abbreviated saddle stem, the vulcanite's jet-black hues complementing the walnut-stained sandblast that dresses the stummel.
