Misc. Estates: Geiger Smooth Elephant's Foot Tobacco Pipe

Sara Mossberg and Love Geiger are the Swedish pipe-making duo behind Geiger pipes. The pair collaborates on every aspect of their pipes, from the designing and shaping to the engineering and finishing. As the pair are from Sweden, it doesn't come as much of a surprise to see them pay homage to the legendary Bo Nordh.

Like Bo Nordh's Ballerina and Sphinx shape, the Elephant's Foot is an iconic design that's become a staple in artisan pipe making. This rendition from Mossberg and Geiger is a rather distinctive take on the classic form, offering a more rounded style of bowl than is typically associated with the shape. The bowl nevertheless retains the form's wrapping panel, which starts at the rim and wraps around the heel before returning to the rim. A flared shank and a demurely curved saddle stem bring up the rear of the composition, with the former terminating at a broad face of craggy plateau, which adds a hint of tactile character to the composition. An auburn smooth finish dresses the stummel and highlights gorgeous birdseye and cross grain across the briar's surface.
