Misc. Estates: Bentley Former Design Smooth Bent Billiard (1-1-9.100) (1) (9mm) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-008-10529
Established in Kleinlutzel, Switzerland by Hans "Former" Nielsen during the 1980s, the Bentley line was created after the demand for Danish Freehand pieces in the United States began to wane, with W.Ø. Larsen then having some of their pipe makers work from home. Designed by the Danish artisan himself and produced with frazing machines, Bentley pipes showcase Former's high-quality craftsmanship within an accessible price range. This Former Design bent Billiard from Bentley renders the classic shape with a gestural stance. It features a pert, upright bowl positioned at the fore, with supple walls tapering subtly from the sweeping heel toward the softly rounded rim, creating a figure that fits comfortably in the hand. From the bowl, a sturdy shank curls upward out of the transition and meets an arcing saddle stem, the pair making for a sinuous profile. The stummel wears a warm, hazelnut stain that showcases lovely birdseye across both flanks and handsome cross grain along the top and underside.
