This Bulldog from Jobey is a rather stout piece, though one that stays true to the archetypal chart-standard shape. The transition is wide, with plenty of room to drape a digit, and it gives way to a straight, diamond-shaped shank that reaches out to meet a sleek saddle stem of black vulcanite. Up front, the bowl stands on a firm, sweeping heel and grows walls that flare out subtly to a high-set waist marked with twin beadlines, which additionally mark a subdued taper to the rim. Dressed in a craggy rustication and a rich, earthy stain, the stummel offers plenty of texture to appreciate.
