Originally a brand of the Shalom Pipe Factory in Israel, Alpha pipes were created as an exclusive export to the United States. Later, they became a subsidiary of Mastercraft and Lane, Ltd. while remaining an American exclusive. This "2523" is a Horn-like take on the bent Dublin that boasts an easy sinuousness throughout its silhouette and a slightly ovoid shank and stem combination. The transition is wide, and the shank tapers out of it swiftly in a diamond-shaped configuration, meeting a similarly tapered stem of demurely curved black acrylic. Up front, the bowl stands on a sweeping heel and cants forward, growing trumpeting walls that expand dramatically into a broad, inward-sloping rim. Dressed in a warm, rich stain, the stummel showcases handsome grain throughout.
