Instead of traditional briar, this Tomato from an unknown maker is fashioned from morta, a relatively rare pipe-making medium. Morta is a semi-petrified oakwood that's been preserved in peat bogs, the wetland's acidic water preventing the wood's decay. It's prized for its heat resistance and unique grain patterning, and it lends itself well to pipe-making for those very reasons. This Tomato makes great use of the medium and its grain, the latter highlighted here by a smooth finish.
