Misc. Estates: Red Point Old Briar Smooth Bent Billiard Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-008-11467
This bent Billiard from an unknown maker is a thoroughly classic rendition of the traditional shape — perfect for those lovers of pipes adhering to the classic shape-chart standards championed by English brands, such Dunhill's "02" and the "42" from Comoy's. The acrylic stem's prominent bend, paired with the acute transition from the angled shank into the upright bowl, lends a comfortable jaw hanging posture typical of bent Billiards. A mid-set shank makes for an acute transition, with a comfortable space between the bowl and shank to drape a finger. When viewing the stummel's flanks, one can see swirling eddies of birdseye — while cross grain flows unbroken from the bottom of the shank, around the pronounced curve of the bowl, across the rim, and through the transitional area to go back up to the top of the shank. This gorgeous grain is shown off by a smooth finish and a chestnut stain.
