Turkish Estates: Fikri Baki Meerschaum Elephant's Foot with Bamboo (with Case) (Unsmoked) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-653-5122
This pipe is quite a rarity, rendering an Elephant's Foot in meerschaum, then pairing it with bamboo. Crafted by Fikri Baki, the design has its origins in Danish pipe making and has become a staple in artisan pipe making. More than three-inches tall, the form is defined by paneled flanks here that resemble a tooth in profile. The convex, shield-like shape of the fore is juxtaposed by its inverted counterpart at the aft, all culminating in a more than palm-filling bowl. The abbreviated shank, then, is extended by four knuckles of bamboo, lending an organic aesthetic to the piece and is topped by an ebony-hued, downturned stem. A fascinating pipe, it remains unsmoked.
