Turkish Estates: CAO Meerschaum Laughing Bacchus (with Case) Tobacco Pipe
Product Number: 004-653-6709
Before briar was the standard medium for pipe making, meerschaum, also known as sepiolite, was a preferred material among craftsmen. Known for its flavor-neutral smoking properties and ability to patinate, meerschaum is also incredibly moldable when wet, making it the perfect material for detailing carvings and creative designs. With Turkish origins dating back to the early 18th century, this material has stood the test of time and still produces incredible figurals today.
This Laughing Bacchus from CAO combines various textures, materials, and hues to create an eccentric pipe that would add diversity to any collection. The figural bowl depicts the Roman god of wine, revelry, agriculture and fertility. Bacchus was also a patron of the arts and protector of the theater. Boasting a firm heel and possessing a tightly knit transition, this pipe provides a satisfying hand feel. Departing from the meerschaum, the acrylic stem appears marbled, showcasing a ribboning of red, yellow, orange, and white hues. This pipe also comes complete with a carrying case.
