American Estates: Mark Tinsky Smooth Cutty Pristine (5) (X) (Star)

Product Number: 004-009-5526

A lot of Mark Tinsky designs are reinterpretations and hybrids of common traditional shapes, but here he goes a bit further, apparently taking the old clay-pipe derived Cutty and matching it to the shank and stem of the distinctly Italian Hawkbill. Granted, the Cutty's form isn't just traditional, it's antiquarian, and though the Hawkbill is a product of the 20th century, it is by now a well-accepted shape within the Italian school. Nonetheless, both are a good deal less common than say the Dublin or Bulldog, and a hybrid of the two is that much more novel.
