American Estates: Custombilt Partially Rusticated Lovat
Product Number: 004-009-5613
Custombilt is a pipe making company with a complicated past, starting out as Custom-Bilt back in 1929 by Tracy Mincer. The hyphen was eventually dropped, and after changing hands multiple times and introduced strange designs, in the 1950s, like the the bizarre, air-cooled (in theory anyway) "Doodler" pipe, the Custombilt name finally wound up owned by Tobacalera of Spain, where until the late 1990s, they were producing pipes in Mexico. This design is quite common for the brand: a big, chunky bowled number bearing its characteristic rough carving and gouges.
