American Estates: Rad Davis Rusticated Bent Tomato (2006)
Product Number: 004-009-6227
Craftsman, artist, fly fishing guide - yep, it's Rad Davis, we're talking about. After learning the ways of briar-shaping from Mark Tinsky, Rad began making pipes not too long ago, but we've been pretty impressed with his work so far. Receiving his Grecian briar from the same source as Mark, his pipes are always high quality with zero fills.
This particular number is a bent Tomato from 2006. It features a bowl that's quite full and round, yet squat as can be, and an elegant and rather Danish-looking transition. Finished in a dark sandblast and topped with a brindled vulcanite stem, it's a lovely composition worthy of a place in any collector's rotation.
