American Estates: Sam Learned Partially Rusticated Bent Egg (04)
Product Number: 004-009-9125
A rather soft shape, this Sam Learned is a rather handsome rendition of his Mule shape. Its plump rounded base suits the form well, with a a rather trim transition comparatively flaring out at the shank end. It's finished in a extra-dark stain and dimpled rustication — all for under a $100. There is some minor rim darkening, but condition is quite good here, the aft side of the bowl displaying a natural fissure that, while noticeable, doesn't at all compromise this piece's smoking qualities, only adding even further texture to the rusticated finish.- Andrew Wike
