American Estates: Adam Davidson Smooth Bent Egg with Bamboo (2014)

Product Number: 004-009-10560

Creative use of bamboo is a hallmark of Adam Davidson's work, and you would have to search long to find a better example than this smooth Egg. Six knuckles of bamboo cascade down the shank, offering lots of tactile satisfaction as well as visual interest in a gentle curve that connects the bowl and stem. The bowl carries a blonde stain and emphasizes the clear, finely striated grain that envelops the circumference of the bowl. Almost a stacked Egg, if there were such a thing, its elongated height lends itself well to showcasing the grain. a good-sized pipe by Davidson standards, this elegant piece will drape naturally from the jaw or sit comfortably in either hand. There is some slight chamber over-reaming present, and, of course, some minor rim darkening.
