American Estates: Brad Pohlmann Sandblasted Tomato (2014)
Product Number: 004-009-11345
Brad Pohlman is a carver who has perfected the art of combining sandblasts with contrast stains, allowing the underlying flame grain to still come through. The result of this pairing, that of the texture of crisply etched ring grain and birdseye with smoky strokes of flame, is an aesthetic of rich depth, and all the more so when handled in such a warm, dusky style as this. Shape-wise, this is one round-waisted Tomato — the bowl bulging significantly with drastic tapers above and the below.-Truett Smith
