American Estates: Lee Von Erck Partially Rusticated Freehand (C39105) (1993)
Product Number: 004-009-11447
Most likely carved in 1993, this bent Freehand doesn't quite sport the spiral carving motif that dresses many of Lee Von Erck's pieces. Instead, it displays a more softly ridged texture, almost as if the bowl were squeezed too tightly in the grip of some powerful giant. It makes for a highly organic aesthetic that catches the light handsomely and matches well with the plateaued rim and partial rustication at the heel. Fitting in with Lee's portfolio, this is quite a large piece, hosting plenty of chamber and making for an excellent house pipe. The airway was drilled off-center and there's some minor rim darkening, but everything else is in good shape condition-wise.-Truett Smith
