American Estates: Brad Pohlmann Sandblasted Poker with Bamboo
Product Number: 004-009-11624
Somewhat of a different piece than what we're used to seeing from Brad, this Poker is long and streamlined, substituting the American carver's typical bold and rounded shaping style for a form that's defined by crisp, straight lines throughout. Though quite lengthy at over six and a half inches, it's one of Brad's lighter pieces — thanks to the use of four knuckles of bamboo — and one of the few ones from him to incorporate the organic medium. Here, the lengthy extension bears a dark hue, intermixed with sandy notes to match the tanblasted finish of the stummel. Flaring toward the rim, the bowl is the perfect shape to showcase tight ripples of ring grain climbing upward. This piece boasts Pohlmann's shaping diversity and utter skill with its stunning craftsmanship and a lovely texture in hand. Great condition too, with just some rim darkening and scraping in the chamber.-Truett Smith
