American Estates: J. Alan Smooth Tomato (473) (2010)

Product Number: 004-009-11670

J. Alan's Tomato shape renditions come in a wide array of variations, from the poised and plump to the wide and Scoop-like. This fellow is one of the latter sort, imbued as it is with a reaching lip of sorts at the fore, the culmination of a soft, subtly sweeping rim. Jeff's managed to impart a lively sense of energy to the piece through a neatly-tucked heel at the underside, and the pinched transition serves to guide the eye to a compressed, lenticular shank of not-inconsiderable muscularity. Finished in a warm contrast stain to accentuate loads of flame and birdseye, this should definitely make for a welcomed addition to your collection. There are some dings around the bowl, and the finish is faded a bit, but otherwise condition is good.
