American Estates: Nathan Armentrout Sandblasted Bent Egg with Bacote

Product Number: 004-009-15488

Often inspired by Danish pipe design, California-based carver, Nathan Armentrout, here presents a bent Egg with Fish-like inclinations. As a whole, the proportions belie this pipe's overall size, making the photos a bit deceptive. The height of the bowl compared to the size of the shank gives the impression of quite a large piece, but that's not the case — this is a rather petite, compact pipe, marked by a smaller form and svelte proportions throughout. The bowl is rounded, but slender, urging forward from out of a flaring shank that's teardrop of cross section, the resulting ridgeline flowing down the left side and all the way up the bowl's fore. For a subtle accenting touch, Armentrout fitting the shank face with a piece of bacote wood, complementing the stummel's tanblast.
