American Estates: Kaywoodie White Briar Carved (1951-1989)

Product Number: 004-009-12503

The Kaywoodie White Briar is exactly what the name implies: a briar made by Kaywoodie, painted white. It offers something vaguely resembling the color of meerschaum, while remaining white without developing a patina and having the smoking properties of briar. This particular example wears a rugged carved finish with a texture that reminds me of a scaly reptile and features an oval chamber similar to that of the Opera shape. It also notably features two draft holes inside the chamber — the airway runs underneath the bowl with the draft holes positioned at the bottom fore and aft. Certainly a whimsical, eccentric design that will definitely spice up a rotation or excite any collector of older Kaywoodies. The original threaded stinger is still intact too, making this quite a rare find indeed.
