American Estates: Michael Lindner Sandblasted Paneled Billiard with Horn (C) (2006)

Product Number: 004-009-12623

Michael Lindner is among the earliest of the American carvers to incorporate elements from the Danish style into his own work. This Billiard from 2006 really highlights Lindner's eye for shaping, featuring a bowl and shank that are both octagonally-paneled. The neat, architectural panels that surround the bowl give the piece a firmer, sturdier feel in hand, while the flattened underside ensures it'll sit stably on flat surfaces. Lindner has then finished the bowl in a craggy sandblast, bringing out wave after wave of ring grain that travels from the broad base up toward the smooth polished rim. Another remarkable feature is the horn accent that adorns the base of the saddle stem. It's paneled perfectly to line up with the ridgelines of the shank while its color complements the dark tones of the stummel exceptionally well.
