American Estates: Larry Roush Sandblasted Pot with Silver (S3) (2152) (2013)
Product Number: 004-009-12844
Shape-wise, this Pot isn't as identifiable as the work of Larry Roush. Typically the American carver fashions piece's larger than this, and he often continues the stem's taper through the shank for added visual intrigue and focus toward the bowl. Here, though, he's kept the design more traditional — the shank straight-lined and the bowl firm and upright. The presentation, however, is readily recognized as Larry's work: His iconic sandblast delights with craggy, textured ring grain all the way up the bowl, and his silverwork is found in trim style at the shank end, separating the stummel from the cumberland stem, a common material within Roush's portfolio. Fans of the esteemed artisan's work will appreciate such a presentation, while lovers of more standard-sized takes on pipe chart standards will enjoy the more reserved style of this piece.-Truett Smith
