American Estates: J.T. Cooke Smooth Bulldog
Product Number: 004-009-12643
Though known for his distinctive, extra-craggy sandblasts, J.T. Cooke prefers blasts and makes very few smooth pipes, but one of these rarities is offered here in the form of a straight Bulldog. At just over six and a half inches in overall length, this piece is easily the lengthiest Cooke pipe I've ever come across. The lines of the lengthy diamond shank dissolve into the bowl seamlessly, with the ridgeline along the underside continuing into the bowl and giving it a firm, jutting heel in the process. Said bowl is oriented at a slight backward cant but remains tall and proud in its stance, displaying the Bulldog's characteristic beadlines directly underneath the high-set, slightly tapered rim. You don't see smooth briars like this all that often from the legendary American carver, so I wouldn't wait too long to add this stunning briar to your collection.- Jeffery Sitts
