American Estates: Micah Redmond Sandblasted Asymmetric Tomato
Product Number: 004-009-17906
Few carvers can deliver asymmetrical shapes with the confidence and success of Micah Redmond. This piece has a low vertical profile with more of the creative shaping cues evident horizontally. For example, the teardrop shank with its single crisp ridge line along the lower left is obvious from above or below, but from a side view, you might not even notice. Likewise, the shank expansion from transition to stem is subtle in silhouette, but obvious from top or bottom. The bowl, too, is a shape-shifter, with the Tomato shape clear from the side but more of a stretched Egg from above. It's like having several different pipes all in one package, and every one of them has a craggy sandblast to commend its tactile qualities.- Chuck Stanion
