American Estates: James Gilliam (JSEC) Smooth Bent Brandy with Horn (Unsmoked)

Product Number: 004-009-17971

An American pipe maker who now lives in Germany, James Gilliam spent years in the U.S. Navy before personally restoring some of his damaged pipes led him to carve pieces of his own. Here, Gilliam presents a Danish-inspired bent Brandy design, the bowl subtly tapering from its plump flanks up toward the rim and is rife with beautiful grain. The shank is incredibly brief, with the horn extension making up most of its length and flaring out in traditional Danish fashion. That flare is echoed again at the disc-shaped base of the ever-so-slightly bent stem while the horn ferrule is reinforced with a brass inset ring for a mount-style tenon configuration. It's presented here in unsmoked condition.
