A dramatically curved transition from the narrow upper bowl to the wide shank extends in a flowing gesture, elevating this Volcano from Bruce Weaver into a distinctive and creative rendition. The sandblast is well-defined, with a cascading impression, like ripples in a stream as it runs over broken bedrock. You may have noticed the coloration. Bruce enjoyed this sort of treatment, though he performed it seldomly, and he had avid collectors requesting the time-consuming stripes of colors flowing along the lines of the growth rings. The saddle stem continues the whimsical theme with its own unique hues, and the underside of the piece as well, with bright explosions of color.
